I really enjoyed Burn by Maya Banks, and I'm pretty sure that it's my favorite of the three books in the Breathless Trilogy. For me it was the hottest of the books but also felt like the one that I could really relate to the best.

 

The Story

 

Burn is Ash's Story and while it does still hit on the stores of Gabe & Mia and Jace & Bethany it is fully centered around Ash.  The plot line is great in this story and moves easily.  Maya Banks has definitely saved the best for the last book of the Breathless Trilogy.  While this book did follow the same plot structure as the others, I felt that there was a greater connection with both lead characters in the story and it had my full attention.  Also, the fact that I found my self laughing at multiple parts of the book was a great plus.

 

 

The Hero

 

WOW!  Ash is by far my favourite of the heros from the Breathless Trilogy.  From the outside he looks like an easy going guy with a laid back attitude but he is so much more than that.  He's strong willed, dominant, caring, sexy and a BEAST in the sac! While he does have a bit of an issue with jumping to conclusions that's something I can overlook!

 

 

The Heroine

 

Each of the heroines in this series are so different from each other and I really liked that.  Josie Josie Carlysle is a free spirited artist who paints in bright bold colors and doesn't let anything get her down.  She's sweet, sassy and a little more submissive than she thinks!  Her ability to submit while keeping her strong character is a quality that isn't seen enough in these types of stories.  She's not a virgin, she's not weak and she's not stumbling blind into a new "type" of relationship which makes her a favorite on my list.

 

 

The BFF

 

 The BFF's in Burn are some of our favorite characters from the other books in the Breathless Trilogy.  The couples of Gabe/Mia and Jace/Bethany really add not only some great laughs but also continue some of the plot lines from the first 2 books.

 

The Steam

 

 Holy Shit is about the only way I can sum up the steaminess that is Ash McIntyre!  He is by far the hottest of the 3 Breathless men!  While he's used to only being in threesomes with his best friend Jace, he easily takes command in a one on one situation and boy is it worth it.  Lets just say that not only this one of my favorites but my husbands too ;)

In The End by Erika Ashby is a prequel of sorts to the Timing is Everything series.  But while it's labeled a prequel it's important to note that it is actually book 3 of the series!  This story should NOT be read until after you read 1 and 2 because it's pretty much a spoiler of both books!  This is Jakes Story, the story that he wasn't able to tell.

 

When I first heard that Erika Ashby was writing this novella I first thought it was a silly idea, the series had wrapped up nicely and that there wasn't much more to find out.  But after reading it I highly recommend that anyone who enjoyed the Timing Is Everything series read this book! 

 

It is told solely from Jakes point of you and doesn't really delve into the other characters at all.  It was a great way for her to fill in the small questions that were left from the story without taking it to a whole different level.  In The End is a short easy read and only took me about an hour to get through!

So Sins & Needles was another one of my one-click pick ups that I had on my kindle forever.  I'm a sucker for tattoos, hot men and anything on sale....so put the 3 together and I bought it no questions asked!  When I decided to read it one weekend it was purely because I loved the cover and it caught my eye!  So lets say I was beyond happy to have found such an awesome book!  I loved the fact that it was based on locations that were close to me and belive it or not.....but I spend a LOT of time at the good ol' Avi Resort and Casino so imagine my surprise when my hidden gem ends up in a freaking awesome book!

 

The Story:

 

Sins & Needles by Karina Halle was such a well written story, in a sea of books that tend to follow the current trends it was a breath of fresh air!  Not only was it well written but it constantly kept me on my toes.  I'm a horrible reader because I'm always trying to stay one step ahead of the characters....trying to see where the story is going....but this story never went the way I thought. 

 

Hero:

Camden McQueen

 

Ummmmmm I know I'm supposed to write about the hero here but all I can hear in my head is a sound that is something like Yummmmmmmy!  Camden is my perfect BBF, he's tattooed (and a tattooed artist), strong, masculine, protective, sexy and great in the sack!  And when you learn about his past it makes you want to snuggle up next to him and try to make it all better!

 

The Heroine:

 

Ellie Watt

 

After many rants about weak, virginal heroines I was so excited to meet Ellie.  She's spent her life on the run, jumping from scam to scam.  She's not shy, she's not coy and she doesn't take shit from anyone.  But at the same time you can totally relate to her and how she feels about an old friend from her past.

 

The Steam:

 

There were some really HOT scenes in Sins & Needles, like take a cold shower hot.  But at the same time the story was so involved and kept you so entertained you weren't just reading and waiting for the next sex scene!

The Cover:

 

I love this cover!  I normally don't like covers where you can see a face because it forces me to see a character that might not match up.  But the cover model was the perfect Ellie.  Not to mention I totally read this book based on the cover!

 Momma's Recommendation:

 

I highly recommend this book to ALL romance lovers.  There is romance, steam, suspense and drama!  It's the perfect package.

Ok, so I suck!  I am so insanely behind on my ARCs that it's actually pretty embarrassing!  But I can't say no and I'm a sucker for reading period!  I'm always worried that I'm going to miss out on the next awesome book if I don't add it to my ARC list!

I've been dying to read this series for awhile and with the upcoming release of Burn I figured it was finally time to bite the bullet and jump in, and I am so glad I did!  I fell in love with the whole crazy group almost immediately.  I've been searching for a good Alpha Male book and there are plenty of Alpha's to go around here!

 

The Story

 

I knew that the reviews were good for this book but I didn't know anything about it going in which was great because I was totally caught off guard by the plotline and the connections between the characters.   The story is well written and then at the same time there were parts that actually had me gasping and yelling at my ereader!.  It was slightly lacking in the angst department but it totally made up for it with the ending.  Lets just say that Gabe really knows how to say sorry in a BIG way!

 

But I do need to just vent a tiny bit!  While I really liked the story I'm getting a bit tired of the "come on command" line.  Can it be done ........yes, but it's usually when there is delayed gratification involved because the person is holding off so long that the fact that they are given permission to finally release can cause them to come almost instantly.  It's not something that just happens the first time you get into bed with someone and can take a bit of training to get to that point!  Just saying!

 

The Hero

 

Gabe Hamilton

 

Wow!  Gabe, Gabe, Gabe! At the very beginning he seems like your typical millionaire hero but as you get to know him you see he is so much more than that.  He's not pretentious or holier than thou, and behind closed doors he actually a bit of a softie....but in the perfect way.  He protects what's his and takes care of his girl in and out of the bedroom!  He can come off a bit obsessive or overprotective but you learn that there are reasons to why he feels how he does when you get to see his past and how its' affected him.

 

The Heroine

 

Mia Crestwell

 

I love Mia!  She's not a virgin, she's not naïve and she has a freaking backbone!  Even though she is new to having a BDSM type relationship she handles it well and keeps her cool even when things get crazy. She's known Gabe pretty much forever which leads to some awesome sex and some pretty surprising scenes!

 

The BFF

 

The awesome part is that there are tons of BFFs to go around.  Gabe has Jace and Ash (hello hotties!) and Mia has Caroline and her girls.  The way the the different characters interact both one on one and as a whole group is really intriguing and sucks you in.  But at the same time there aren't too many alternate stories going on to detract from the main plot.

 

The Steam

 

If you're looking for steam you have found the right book!  The sex is HOT and there is plenty of it!  It ranges from sweet and vanilla to pretty hot BDSM play.
