5 Take Me Jonathan Stars!

Momma's Review

To say that I loved this series would be an understatement!  I got the first book, Beg, from netgalley, because I had met C.D. Reiss at a book signing earlier that month and was intrigued by her series.  As soon as I finished it I immediately ran to Amazon and purchased the next book, and then the next book and then the next!  I literally spent 5 days doing NOTHING but reading these books....just ask my husband!  There are a total of 10 books in this series but they are all on the short side, with an average around 200 pages or less.  Normally for the blog I try hard to review each book in a series separately but damn if I didn't read them so fast that they all blurred into one big book........and did I mention the series is over...that means no cliffys!
I love stories about D/s relationships and tend to read multiple a month, when I picked up Beg I was in a horrible funk.  Every book just seemed the same and I had just about given up on finding a good one....then BAM!  I was totally blindsided.  I think it was a combination of the feel of a quick read coupled with a HOT hero that really did it for me.  I fell head over heels in love with Jonathan Drazen from the first book.  And the fact that Monica isn't some shy, virginal 18 year old girl just sealed the deal for me.
This entire series is incredibly steamy but at the same time has a running dramatic storyline that leaves you guessing.  Coupled with the fact that the author included novellas for sub characters that added such a great history to the characters it was a total 5 star for me! C.D. Reiss did a brilliant job with her debut series and I am anxiously awaiting her next series, Songs of Corruption, which follows Jonathan's sister Theresa!

Blog Tour: Sempre: Redemption by J.M. Darhower

Momma's Rating
5 Amazingly Perfect Ending Stars
Momma's Review
Where do I even start with this book? It was absolutely AMAZING!  The first page made me cry, no seriously....the first page really had me in tears.  But it's ok because J.M. Darhower totally made up for it by chapter 2!  I was a huge fan of Sempre and had a chance to read the books pretty much back to back which I think made it that much better because I was so totally in love with Carmine and Haven.
That said.....there was a part in the book that gutted me, absolutely gutted me.  I won't say what it is...or when it happens, but BAM it had me on the floor!  For a minute I was bad at the Author for taking the turn she did but as I continued reading I started to see why she did it.  That point in the book absolutely had to happen to really see what the characters were made of.
This review is hard to write without spoilers because there are so many big things that happen but what I can say is that if you were a fan of Sempre, even just a bit, then you will absolutely LOVE this book!  Just remember that when things start to go crazy just keep reading!  because it will get better ;)
The Story
This story is so well written, J.M. Darhower has officially moved onto my must read author list!  And while the book didn't go in the direction I expected I absolutely loved it.  You know a story is good when you have physical reactions to it.  When there was suspense my heart raced, when there was romance my heart swooned and when there was heart break I had to grab my tissues!
The Hero
Carmine DeMarco
You know what I love about Carmine?  He's not your typical book boyfriend.  He's damaged and broken, he's angry and volatile and sometimes he's a downright asshole!  But it makes me love him even more.  Even though he pushes people away he is willing to give everything for his family. I wanted to cheer him on every time he did something good and smack him every time he started to get snarky!  And in the end I ended up loving him even more.
The Heroine
Haven Antonelli
Oh my sweet Haven!  She's one of those characters that make you want to crawl into a book and give them a hug.  She brings out every momma bear instinct I have to protect and fight.  And in Sempre: Redemption we get to see her start to grow.  She starts to learn what the world is really about and see her try to build relationships.  Even the smallest things, like navigating the subway, made me want to give her a high five!
Momma's Recommendation
I highly recommend this book!  To say that the series is a must read is an understatement.  It's not my normal genre because it's more YA than I normally read but it has enough drama to keep a reader interested in the suspense!  You must read Sempre before this one but the series

About the Author
"I was a Russian spy at the ripe age of thirteen, given my uncanny ability to tell if someone was lying ( I also read fortunes on the weekends). By sixteen I had become too much of a handful for the Lethal Intelligence Ensemble (L.I.E.). I was quickly exiled to the south of France where I worked with wayward elephants in the Circus of Roaming Animals and People (C.R.A.P.). I was able to make ends meet by selling my organs on the black market for pocket change and beer money. At the age of twenty three I decided to expand my horizons and become a blackjack dealer in Ireland. I loved the family atmosphere at Barney's Underground Liquor Lounge (B.U.L.L.). People couldn't resist the allure of Liquor up front and poker in the rear. Eventually I became tired of the rear and headed off to the United States to try my hand at tall tales. That is what brings us here today. If you have a moment I'd like to tell you a story.
