Momma's Review

Where do I even start with this book? It was absolutely AMAZING!  The first page made me cry, no seriously....the first page really had me in tears.  But it's ok because J.M. Darhower totally made up for it by chapter 2!  I was a huge fan of Sempre and had a chance to read the books pretty much back to back which I think made it that much better because I was so totally in love with Carmine and Haven.

That said.....there was a part in the book that gutted me, absolutely gutted me.  I won't say what it is...or when it happens, but BAM it had me on the floor!  For a minute I was bad at the Author for taking the turn she did but as I continued reading I started to see why she did it.  That point in the book absolutely had to happen to really see what the characters were made of.

This review is hard to write without spoilers because there are so many big things that happen but what I can say is that if you were a fan of Sempre, even just a bit, then you will absolutely LOVE this book!  Just remember that when things start to go crazy just keep reading!  because it will get better ;)

The Story

This story is so well written, J.M. Darhower has officially moved onto my must read author list!  And while the book didn't go in the direction I expected I absolutely loved it.  You know a story is good when you have physical reactions to it.  When there was suspense my heart raced, when there was romance my heart swooned and when there was heart break I had to grab my tissues!

The Hero

Carmine DeMarco

You know what I love about Carmine?  He's not your typical book boyfriend.  He's damaged and broken, he's angry and volatile and sometimes he's a downright asshole!  But it makes me love him even more.  Even though he pushes people away he is willing to give everything for his family. I wanted to cheer him on every time he did something good and smack him every time he started to get snarky!  And in the end I ended up loving him even more.

The Heroine

Haven Antonelli

Oh my sweet Haven!  She's one of those characters that make you want to crawl into a book and give them a hug.  She brings out every momma bear instinct I have to protect and fight.  And in Sempre: Redemption we get to see her start to grow.  She starts to learn what the world is really about and see her try to build relationships.  Even the smallest things, like navigating the subway, made me want to give her a high five!

Momma's Recommendation

I highly recommend this book!  To say that the series is a must read is an understatement.  It's not my normal genre because it's more YA than I normally read but it has enough drama to keep a reader interested in the suspense!  You must read Sempre before this one but the series
