I am a huge fan of Maya Banks and never say no to the offer of reading one of her books!
Her Breathless Series (Fever, Rush & Burn) is by far one of my favorite series of last year. So when I had a chance to read Letting Go, the first in the Surrender trilogy I jumped at the chance. Each book is a standalone in the series, much like Breathless, with each book following a different set of characters that all interact in daily life.
I really liked this book. It was a sweet story of a heroine after losing her husband and learning how to not only cope but to move on from him and find the one thing that she's been missing. Enter Dash, the hot dominant alpha male who's been hiding in plain site. You get to watch the struggle between these two characters as they try to figure out how to deal with each other.
While I did truly like this book it is a bit different from the previous books from Maya Banks. Everything I've read from her usually starts on the steam very, very quickly. But this story seemed to get a slow start. If you are a fan of Maya, like I am, just be prepared for a build up. It's totally worth it but it definitely doesn't move as fast as her other stories. There is more romance, more sweet and then finally the steam! And damn the steam is HOT once it hits you full force!
I would highly recommend this book to romance readers who love their stories steamy, but this is not an overly erotic book. It's a great starter read for new fans of Maya Banks and a great first story in the series. Not to mention that I'm super excited to read more about book two!
Letting Go sounds wonderful. I've only read a few of Ms. Banks' books but I like her style. I like that Letting Go is a slow build. Although I like the steam ;) I also really like a lot of character development and it seems like LG delivers. Fantastic review!!
