Blog Tour & Giveaway: No Going Back by Erika Ashby

Available June 30th

Blurb:

Life isn’t always about fairytales and happily ever-after’s according to Seth Jordan. After having his world shattered and heartbroken beyond repair, he had always sworn off the idea of love. He was perfectly content with continuing his life with worthless one night stands and no strings attached sex. That was until one blue-eyed blonde managed to seep into places he thought were cemented shut.

Like a jack hammer, Mallory Prentice came into Seth’s life and cracked the hard exterior that surrounded his heart. She’s the one woman he was starting to feel might be worth taking a chance on.

But life doesn't always hand you the easy road. Sometimes you are constantly hit with the bad and have no hope of any good ever showing up.

Will Seth and Mallory realize that ultimately they are the ones who are in control of their life’s outcome? Will they embrace the future and fight for their own happiness, or will they keep lingering in past mistakes and let it keep them apart?

Life is all about forgiveness and second chances. Once you come to that conclusion and just go for it, there is…no going back

3.5 Hot For Seth Stars

Momma's Review:

* I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

Story:
This is the 2nd story in the Timing is Everything series.  You have to read the first book, Moving Forward, before you attempt to understand this one!

No Going Back is the story of Mallory and Seth, but I was excited that it also continued the story of Derek and Jessica from Moving Forward because I really liked them.  And not to mention.....Seth is freakin HOT!  I seriously laughed, cried, got angry, got happy, cried again and then giggled!

The story does cover a very long period of time, and at times feels like it was a bit jumpy in the amount of time it skipped over but I can see why the author did it to move the story along. No Going Back is a well written story! Normally I get worried when an author writes in Dual POV but Erika Ashby did a great job in getting both Mallory and Seth's story on paper and made it very easy to read

Hero:

What can I say about Seth?  He's your classic lead singer, Rock Star, asshole!  He think he doesn't deserve to be happy so he continually pushes everyone important out of his life.  There were times that I wanted to hug him to make him feel better and times when I wanted to smack the shit out of him.

Heroine:

So I had a bit of a hard time with Mallory.  In the first book we only got a glimpse of the smart mouthed best friend but this time we get to see her in full force.  She's not a sweet demure little thing and tends to curse A LOT but if you just see that as who she is it totally fits.

BFF:
I loved that we got to see Derek and Jesika as the BFFs this time!  They are always there for Mallory and Seth, no matter what happens and you can really see how they gently lead them to where they need to be!

Steam:
Ok, so there were some really steamy parts in the book but this is where I was thrown off a bit.  There were things that the heroine and hero said during or after a really steamy moment that made me double take and think WTF!  While it may have been just the characters brash attitudes it was a bit of a mood changer and slightly confusing.

Recommendation:
I recommend this book to anyone who's read Moving Forward!  It is a definite must read for anyone who loved Jesika and Derek.  I also recommend the series for anyone who loves a good romance story with a bit of steam mixed in!

Consequences by Aleatha Romig

Available now at:

5 Holy Fuck...that just happened Stars

So I finished Consequences by Aleatha Romig a few days ago and holy shit!  I've literally been sitting here for days with a feeling that I almost can't explain.  It's kind of like a book hangover but kind of like a feeling of complete shock!  This book literally twisted me around, flipped me over and then knocked me on my ass!  But damn it if it wasn't TOTALLY worth every second of it.

There are not many books that have made me have a physical reaction but Consequences by Aleatha Romig has mad my short list!  It's like an awesome thriller movie, every time I thought I was comfortable the story took a turn that made me want to scream or throw my iPad!

Story:
So I can't quiet decide if Aleatha Romig is Evil or a genius....maybe she's just an Evil genius!  The story is dark, twisted and perfectly written.  There wasn't anything about the actual story that I would have changed!

Hero:

Anthony Rawlings

Ok, well I don't know if you could call him a hero.  Let's just call him the main lead.  Oh boy, where do I even start with Mr. Tony Rawlings.  I hate him.....I think, no I totally hate him!  That's why this book is so freaking awesome.  Cause I really have no fucking clue how I feel about Tony.  One minute I want to kick him in the balls and the next minute I'm falling for him and then BAM, I wanna kick him in the balls again!  He angry, scary, frustrating, sexy,  and so totally fucked up.  Shit....I can't explain him......you really need to read this book!

Heroine:
Claire Nichols

I liked Claire's character.  She's strong, independent and willing to do what is necessary to survive.  Even though she is put into a situation that is so far beyond her control she stays strong and finds a way to just live each day.  I will admit that I did yell at her more than once while reading and a few times I wanted to reach in and just save her from all of the crap that she was going through!

Recommendation:

I recommend this book, like scream it from the roof top recommend this book.  But....and this is a big but!  There are scenes of abuse (physical and mental) and rape, if these things are a trigger for you then please be forewarned and read the synopsis fully before reading!

Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover

Available July 8!

Momma's Rating
5 Hot For Holder Stars!

Ughhhhhh, I've been trying to write this review all day but it keeps coming out like this:

So excuse me while I fangirl just a bit on this because this book was AMAZING!

The Story:

I'll be honest, when I first heard that Colleen Hoover was going to do an alternate POV for Hopeless I thought it was a horrible idea.  Hopeless was such an amazing book (see my review here) I was really worried that it would be like other POV books that were almost literally the same book rewritten with little tidbits thrown in for the sake of calling in an alternate POV.

But holy shit was I proved wrong!  Colleen Hoover found a way to write Dean Holders story without it sounding anything like a copycat of the original book.  And the way she did it was just genius (you'll see what I mean...but I don't want to give it away!) I was in tears by the 3rd chapter and was immediately reminded why I loved Hopeless so much.  Now don't get me wrong, it's an alternate POV so there are plenty of times where the book will coincide with Hopeless but it was written so well that I actually had to double take a few times!  The best part was that we finally get answers to some of the questions about Holders life from the first book!

And the ending......OMFG, I totally ugly cried (and I was in the freaking drive-thru!!) but it was the most perfect ending.
The Heroine:
I still love Sky.  She is such a sweet, loving, trusting girl that you can't help but root for her.   Because this isn't "her story" we don't see nearly as much of her but you still get to feel everything she is going through.

The Hero:
Oh Dean!  I lived him in the last book but I totally fell in love with him in this book.  He is such a strong character but at the same time so incredibly broken.  And seeing things through his eyes just sealed the deal for me all the way around!

The BFF:
In Losing Hope we get to officially meet Daniel, Holders Best Friend.  Holy crap is he funny!  He isn't strong character and seems to come and go with the story but when he's there he is definitely good for a giggle
The Steam:
The best part about this book is the non-sex sex scene, aka the first kiss....but not only did I get to read one of my favorite scenes of all time but I got to read it from Holders perspective.....holy crap!  The steam in Losing hope is stronger than Hopeless, even though it's an alternate POV.....seems to be that holder has a dirtier mind than Sky, but I loved it!

The Cover:
I liked this cover!  I originally had a whole different picture of Holder in my head but after seeing the cover with Griffin Peterson it totally fit what I had been searching for!

Recommendation:
I absolutely, with out a doubt, recommend this book to EVERYONE!

Review: Driven by K. Bromberg

Available now on:

Momma's Rating

3.5 Racing Hot Stars

Momma's Review

*Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*

I was excited when I was approached to read and review Driven by K. Bromberg.  I had been hearing good things about the book and it had been on my TBR for a while so I eagerly accepted it!

The Story:

The story of Colton and Rylee is a well written story and while basic premise was not original (rich conceited guy, sweet innocent girl) K. Bromberg was able to write the characters just different enough that they stand out. . While the book was well written the fact that there were lots of similarities to other popular books pushed me to not give it a 4.  But at the same time I just had to finish it and I'm dying for the next book in this trilogy set....which is why I gave it a 3.5

The Heroine:
Rylee Thomas

So Rylee was a bit different for me.  If you look at the "normal" heroines of some of the most popular books out right now you get a Soft, shy girl who, even though they think they put up a good fight, actually give up rather quickly and fall head over heels in love.  Rylee actually puts up a good fight because even though she's kissed Colton she really doesn't want to move on after her Traumatic experience.  She seemed more realistic to me because she didn't know quite what to do with herself.  And even though she was second guessing her decisions she wasn't doing it in a way that made her sound weak and feeble.

The Hero:
Colton Donovan

Oh holy hell.....Colton Donovan may just make his way into my list of favorite book boyfriends.  Not only is he sexy, arrogant and a total Alpha Male *sighhhhhhh*but he drives a race car and he has one of the biggest hearts.  He doesn't just throw his money around to prove that he cares, he actually does something about it and helps.  He's broken but knows it and you can really sense his inner struggle between trying to be sweet and romantic and wanting to run away as fast as he can.

The BFF:
Ok....so I love Haddie, she totally reminds me of myself!  Any BFF that can say "...so maybe it
s best to throw caution to the wind and embrace your inner slut for a little bit.  Have some fun and a lot of mind blowing sex!" is like the perfect BFF!  And I'm kind of hoping there might be a spinoff for a Haddie story that I may see coming in a plot line from the 2nd book!

The Steam:
Driven is most definitely a steamy book.  There are hot scenes, angst and even a bit of bondage!  But I was disappointed when one specific scene was skipped over and just referred to in the past tense.  It would have been such a HOT scene!  But thankfully K. Bromberg has said that there will be lots of sex in the next book in the series!!!! Yeah!

The Cover:
The cover left me a bit confused after reading it.  The cover was hot and totally drew me in when looking at a line up of upcoming books but after reading it the girl on the cover reminds me nothing of the heroine in the story.

Recommendation:
I enthusiastically recommend this book to all of my readers!  I think it's one of those books that will only grow as the series goes on and develops into it's own!

Favorite Quotes:
“You know that deep down, a tiny part of that proper, respectable woman you are, wants to visit that reckless, sexy, uninhibited place inside you that’s begging to get out. A place I can undoubtedly help you find.”
K. Bromberg, Driven

“I’ll purposely do something to hurt you to prove that I can. To prove that you won’t stick around regardless of the consequences. To prove that I can control the situation. To control that I don’t get hurt.”
K. Bromberg, Driven
